Richard Askey
Audit Partner, Bury
I joined the company in January 2001, having graduated from UMIST with a degree in Mathematics. I brought absolutely zero accounting knowledge with me, but joined the profession with an enthusiasm to learn.
23 years later, I am now a partner in the audit and accounts department looking after a wide range of clients (both in size and industry). As a result, I advise and assist with all sorts of financial reporting, audit, VAT and tax issues.
My client portfolio includes a number of legal firms and I have a strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules.

My most trusted piece of advice in business is…
In keeping with the old saying that you should “Never let the tax tail wag the investment dog”, it is important to ensure that all commercial factors are considered before reaching any strategic conclusions. Potential tax implications should always be carefully assessed and considered, but should never be the lone driver behind any decision.
