Jonathan Curtis - DJH Business Advisers

Jonathan Curtis

Assistant Client Manager, Chester

I joined the firm at the start of December 2013, and was looking for a firm in which I could grow my professional experience and develop. I found a firm that believed in trying to give a great client experience. Advice led by dedicated partners, directors and managers, who would all deal directly with clients but also empowered its staff. Since joining I’ve gained a great deal of experience in the franchise sector working with a number of great clients. Most of my time is spent advising these clients on anything and everything from tax planning, to preparing cash flows to secure finance for business growth and expansion, to what car they should buy – it’s great having that relationship with clients.

  • What makes DJH great is…

We are a dedicated team of professionals, who put our clients at the forefront of everything we do. Our expansive range of specialist expertise and through access to other specialist advisers, via the DJH Mitten Clarke family, we can provide for all our clients’ needs, allowing them to make informed and nimble decisions and have access to funding and resources as required so that our client’s business can grow and thrive!

  • My most trusted piece of advice in business is…

To have a financial plan in place. Many entrepreneurs and owners start a business without a real understanding of the financial aspects involved. The need to have funds in place to manage day-to-day operations and to manage unexpected expenses. Ensure that you have a solid plan in place and that you know how money is coming in and flowing out. If you don’t keep track of your finances, you’re likely to struggle and make rash decisions. One of the keys to business success is to know your numbers and to plan for your business needs and operations.

  • On a Saturday morning, you’ll usually find me…

Volunteering with the Chester 5K Parkrun team, with my family. We started going to the first-ever parkrun at Chester. It was a way for my eldest son to strengthen his leg, after a bad break in the previous year. Within a very short space of time all the family, including my two sister’s families’ and my parents were taking part also. Since that time, we take turns in volunteering and running on the Saturday mornings before all going for a coffee afterwards (both my boys demand full breakfasts in return for getting them up early on the weekend). We have run Parkrun courses all over the country and even abroad. They are a great community social event, where everyone is welcomed and encouraged, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to get a bit fitter.
