David Newborough
Director, Derby
I have been working in practice since 1995, joining DJH Derby (formerly Ashgates) in 2003 and being a Director in the firm since 2006. I have a background in audit work as well as all forms of accounts and tax compliance. I now focus on coordinating compliance work for my portfolio of clients, and adding my expertise in relation to tax planning, business structures, and advisory matters including medium and long term planning over the life cycle of the business. I am also part of the Senior Leadership Team for the Derby office of DJH.

What makes DJH great is…
That we work together to build a team with all the right skills to deliver excellent joined-up service to our clients. We’re not afraid to give advice honestly and openly, and love working with clients that see how we can add value to their journey towards their business and personal goals.

My most trusted piece of advice in business is…
Set yourself challenging but realistic goals and objectives, and then plan for how to achieve them. If you have a clear vision and a plan then decisions along the way become easier, and if things do go off track, as they inevitably do with life’s twists and turns, you will know that quickly and be able to reassess and revise the plan.

On a Saturday morning you’ll usually find me…
Busy getting my twin children to their sports clubs or practising their musical instruments. If there is a minute to spare then listening to and playing music myself, heading out for a walk, or watching some motorsport.
