Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grants Programme (UK)
The Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grants Programme has re-opened for applications. The programme offers grants of up to £1,000 to schools in the UK to set up Breakfast clubs for those children in most need. To qualify for the programme the breakfast club must be based in a school in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland and priority will be given to schools that have 35% and above of children eligible for pupil premium funding and / or eligible for free school meals or that are based in an area which is classified as falling in the 10% of most deprived areas according to the Index of Multiple Deprivation. Only one grant per school in each academic year will be available.
Grants to Support Music Making (UK & Ireland)
Music for All, a UK charity that promotes music making has launched the third funding round of its Community Project Funding Programme. The funding is open to schools, community groups, and individuals. The funding can be used to purchase instruments, provide music lessons, organise music workshops and events, record and produce music, and promote music education in schools and communities. The funding was introduced to support music education and music-making opportunities for disadvantaged young people and communities. Music for All believes that music can have a positive impact on mental health, loneliness, and isolation, and that it can help to nurture talent and creativity. The application closing date is 11.59 pm on the 27th October 2023.
Science grants for students with special educational needs
UK primary and secondary school teachers can apply for grants of up to £3,000 to support STEM projects for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The funding, which is being made available through the Royal Society’s Partnership Grants Scheme can be used to purchase equipment for projects in science, mathematics, engineering or computing (STEM).
To qualify for funding, projects need to work in partnership with a practising scientist/engineer currently working in a STEM related profession, such as a researcher or analyst. There is a two-stage application process, and both stage 1 and stage 2 applications need to be completed before the end of November 2023.
Paul Hamlyn Foundation
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation has announced that the Teacher Development Fund (TDF) will re-open for applications in September 2023. The TDF provides grants of up to £165,000 to support arts-based teaching and learning opportunities in primary classrooms.
The fund aims to foster effective partnerships between primary schools and arts/cultural organisations, promoting equitable access to education. Each year, approximately eight grants will be awarded to partnerships consisting of arts/cultural organisations and six to ten schools. The selected partnerships will collaborate for two academic years and participate in a shared Cohort Learning Programme.
Priority is given to primary schools, teachers’ professional development, and projects that support children and young people facing inequity and disadvantage.
The Foyle School Library Scheme
UK state schools can apply for grants of £2,000 to £10,000 from the Foyle Foundation through its Schools Library Programme to improve or establish their libraries. The priority is given to primary schools up to Key Stage 2, but secondary schools who need books and reading resources for catch-up reading programmes for Key Stage 3 pupils and/or transition reading programmes for feeder/local primary schools will also be considered. The foundation can also consider applications from special schools for all SEN age groups. Applications can be submitted at any time, but it may take up to four months to receive a decision.
